Many of the adults who have been coming to my family sessions have realized how much they miss making and creating. In fact they have really enjoyed the relaxed, playful and creative atmosphere of the sessions that they have often mused out loud that the activities would be a lot more fun without the children.... There also seem to be a number of people who want to meet and get together with others in a friendly and comfortable environment with an excellent cup of tea or coffee and enjoy working with their hands and imaginations.
I would like to offer some low key 2 hour creative session to a strictly limited number of people without child care problems to come and just enjoy trying out to explore modroc sculpture. Modroc is a plaster gauze, very user friendly and versatile and can be easily used to quickly build a variety of forms. People often start out with one idea and let it take them to a completely different destination. It gets very addictive! Personally I love it.
If there is interest I hope that I will be able to offer a fortnightly range of different activities and opportunities to try out different materials and techniques e.g. drawing, paint, collage, mixed media, print, modroc, clay, fibres, simple jewelry techniques etc.
I would also love to bring in other artists and specialist craftspeople colleagues and maybe we might even plan expeditions to shows and galleries for further inspiration.
