Completely unique and very messy process orientated EXPERIMENTAL ART PLAY suitable for over anyone who has stopping putting things in their mouths [ c 16+ months ?] + carers on Fridays [and other days during the warmer months ] at W4ARTCLUB's Studio in Chiswick.
Come and try - It's only £5 to try out 60 minutes of activities including all materials + even a cuppa.
The aim of the sessions is for both children and carers
- to relax and have fun with some really messy open ended art activities, which can be impossible to do at home, without any pressures to produce anything artistically 'acceptable' to an adult;to encourage creativity and experimentation; to improve problem solving and motor skills and boost self esteem
- to collaboratively work together on group and individual projects in a variety of media.
Activities vary but we are particularly big on paint and pigment and apply it cooperatively [ outside/under canvas!!] with rollers, sponges, huge brushes, fly swatters, spray bottles, cars, fingers, thumbs and sometimes even bums or to everything from pasta beads to 2+ metre high cardboard forms and giant paper 'canvasses'... Damien Hurst move over !!! There is also always loads of a special recipe play dough which can be squidged and squeezed using rollers,extruders and various cutting and modeling tools and even baked and painted for if you want to make a permanent art work . Finally, if children can be separated from the messy stuff, adults particularly enjoy collaborating with their children in < MAKE-IT-WITH-MUM> [ sorry Dads] or <CREATE-IT- WITH CARERS> mini projects generally involving tearing/cutting and sticking or threading activities with a variety of media so that something goes home to be universally admired! I keep forgetting to take photos but hopefully you will soon to able to see the legendary car run, our mega sized cardboard creations and have some idea of just how much mess and fun can be expected why adults are amazed that very young children who never shown any application or concentration can after 2-3 sessions become completely absorbed in open ended creative activities ...Interested ? If you're not put off, sessions are very friendly and, in the winter particularly, are limited to around 8 children [plus carers].
TIMES FRIDAY MORNINGS @ 9.45 and 11.00 a.mAll sessions are nominally for 60 mins but they are <<<<<<elastic>>>>>>and, subject to space, older/more experienced children may like to stay for a further half or full session.
COST £5 to try and then < Pay as you play> at the rate of 1 art cheque [ £10/12.50] per hour.
DRESS CODE !!!! is OXFAM/NON CHIC for children AND adults - clothes and shoes
DO NOT DRESS TO IMPRESS!Although we retreat into the warmth for many of the activities, the really messy stuff is done outside/in a marquee year round. On colder days be warm and waterproof. All in one splash suits or big adult T-shirts make good coveralls. We can provide one-size-fits-all aprons/old T shirts but new children often prefer to wear something from home.
THE PAINTS ARE MADE WASHABLE BUT NO LIABILITY ACCEPTED FOR DAMAGED CLOTHING etc .
BOOKING is strongly advised particularly for the FRIDAY session at 9.45 a.m. Call on the morning to see to see if theorem is a place/cancellation.
